Thunder Road officials have announced the creation of the Myers Container Service Triple Crown Series for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers. The series will feature a trio of extra-distance races for the famed division with its own season-ending championship and point fund.

Hinesburg’s Bobby Therrien took the lead early and never looked back en route to capturing the 55th Memorial Day Classic presented by Mekkelsen RV Sales & Rental at Barre’s Thunder Road on Sunday, May 28. It was the first Thunder Road Late Model victory for the multi-time American-Canadian Tour (ACT) winner.

With a new coat of pavement on Barre’s Thunder Road, speed was the name of the game at today’s Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic practice day. Drivers from Connecticut to Quebec flocked to the high banks to get dialed in for the season opener, and at the end of the day, it was Hudson, N.H.’s Derek Griffith and Hinesburg’s Bobby Therrien topping the charts for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models and Thunder Road Late Models.

Barre’s Thunder Road kicks off the 2017 season this Sunday, May 28 with the 55th Memorial Day Classic presented by Mekkelsen RV Sales & Rental. The event will begin the title chases for all three weekly divisions at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement,” with the Thunder Road Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks joining the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models on the card.

Thunder Road Speedbowl opens the doors on its 58th season of racing on Sunday, May 28 with the 55th Memorial Day Classic presented by Mekkelsen RV Sales & Rental. As part of the action-packed program, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models will take to the Barre high banks for a 150-lap event.

Thunder Road officials announced today that the Junior Champ Kart summer youth racing series will return for a second season at the speedway. The series for racers ages 6 to 14 debuted in 2016, marking the return of go-karts to Thunder Road after a long hiatus.
