The month of August may be the dog days of summer, but there was nothing oppressive about the action at Thunder Road. With the season beginning to wind down, the pressure was on the title contenders to make their move, while drivers who had struggled in the first half of the season looked to turn things around down the stretch. As summer officially began and the month of July arrived at Thunder Road, things continued to heat up in the air and on the track. With five races scheduled for the month, including two of the biggest events of the year on the high banks, a lot was on the line in all divisions. The 58th season at Barre’s Thunder Road was one to remember. New owners, new faces, and new divisions – well, new old divisions – were just some of the things that greeted fans and teams. Thunder Road officials announced today that Jason Woodard has been disqualified from his apparent victory in the Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger Mini Milk Bowl held as part of the 55th Vermont Milk Bowl on Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1.

This one’s for the statheads! To begin our look back at the 58th season of racing on the Barre high banks, the folks in the Thunder Road research department have gone deep inside the numbers. How many first time winners were there this season? Who has the most consecutive seasons with at least one feature win? Which family duo had the best year? Hometown driver Jason Corliss earned the biggest win of his Thunder Road Late Model career on Sunday, October 1, beating out South Burlington’s Trampas Demers to with the 55th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank. It was the fourth Late Model win of the season and eighth of the young standout’s career.

Wolcott’s Marcel J. Gravel will lead the 55th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank on Sunday, October 1. The sophomore Thunder Road Late Model competitor circled the high banks in 12.236 seconds to set a new track record, eclipsing the previous mark of 12.245 seconds set by Sylvain Metievier at the 1995 Milk Bowl.
