Barre, VT — Hometown racer Jason Corliss left NASCAR’s Ryan Preece and everyone else behind on the way to his second straight Essex Equipment Vermont Governor’s Cup victory at Barre’s Thunder Road on Thursday, July 15. Corliss took the lead from three-time track champion Derrick O’Donnell on lap 41 of the 150-lap event and dusted the 27-car field en route to a statement win.

It was the third Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Model win for Corliss this season and the 23rd of his career. The triumph moved Corliss into sole possession of second place on the track’s all-time Late Model wins list in front of a huge crowd watching both at the track and live on FloRacing.

Preece will have 150 green-flag laps to figure out the “Nation’s Site of Excitement” and do something drivers like Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart, Clint Bower, and Ken Schrader have been unable to — take home the victory. He will be in a car prepared by Dale Shaw, a well-known Northeast chassis builder. Dale Shaw Racecars have already taken multiple Late Model wins this year at Thunder Road and with the traveling American-Canadian Tour (ACT). Shaw, a many-time winner with ACT and the NASCAR Busch North Series, will also serve as Preece’s crew chief.

Barre, VT — Thunder Road officials have announced the postponement of the Myers Container Service Triple Crown Series event scheduled for Thursday, July 8 due to a forecast of heavy rain. The event is now slated for Friday, July 9 at 7:00pm and can be seen live on FloRacing.

The program will remain the same as originally planned with the 75-lap Triple Crown event for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers plus the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models, RK Miles Street Stocks, and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors. Officials will continue to monitor how the weather forecast for Friday night develops over the next two days. An announcement regarding the event’s status will be made first thing Friday morning.

Barre, VT — Montpelier’s Kyle Pembroke beat the competition, the fireworks, and the rain at the Preston’s Kia Holiday Spectacular at Barre’s Thunder Road on Thursday, July 1. Pembroke went pole-to-pole in dominating fashion to capturing the Firecracker 54 for the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models live on FloRacing.

On a night where everyone was trying to stay one step ahead of the weather, Pembroke and his Kinney Drugs Chevy found the perfect prescription to do so: go fast and turn left. The result was Pembroke’s ninth career Late Model victory and second of the season.

Barre, VT — Thunder Road celebrates the nation’s independence this Thursday, July 1 with the annual Preston’s Kia Holiday Spectacular. The fireworks will be on display literally and figuratively at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement” for a night of the country’s best stock car racing at the track or live on FloRacing.
