Ronnie Williams Scores Second $10,000 Tour-type Modified Win of 2023 with Monaco Tri-Track Series

Barre, VT — The 60t Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic proved to be one of the most spectacular in the iconic event’s illustrious career. One-hundred-and-twenty-four cars flooded the Thunder Road pit area ranging from the top oval track masters of the Green Mountain State to some of the most nationally recognized names in Tour-type Modifieds. In the end, five deserving drivers took down impressive wins to be crowned on Memorial Day Weekend headlined by the victorious return of the ‘King of Barre’ to Thunder Road victory lane and a longtime racer from Ellington, Connecticut getting his second major Modified win of 2023.

Barre, VT — Since 1961, following Thunder Road’s popular inaugural season, the Memorial Day Classic has been a staple event on the calendar of many Vermont and New England racing fans. Such bonafide Northeast legends as Jean-Paul Cabana, Joey Kourafas, Ralph Nason, Robbie Crouch and Dave Dion have stood in Memorial Day Classic victory lane. For the 27th-consecutive event, the folks at Mekkelsen RV Sales & Service once again present the season opening showdown for the Maplewood/Irving Late Models to kick-start the annual King of the Road track championship season and the first of three Monument Races, with the winner’s name etched forever in Barre, Vermont granite. 

Barre, VT — Officials have announced today that NASCAR Cup Series star Daniel Suárez will be making his debut at Thunder Road as part of the 44th Vermont Governor’s Cup presented by the Vermont Lottery on Thursday, July 13th. While he’ll be taking on the local Maplewood/Irving Late Model stars on July 13th, Suárez will be taking all the notes he can in preparation for his return to Quarry Hill just one week later as part of the bombastic line-up of Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) stars ready to make their world debut at Thunder Road on July 20th.

The $10,000-to-win event is once again drawing the top Tour-type Modified talent to Barre, Vermont in spectacular fashion to kick off the popular series’ 10th anniversary season.

Hometown boy Jason Corliss was able to overcome mechanical woes to tie Nick Sweet as four-time winners of the American-Canadian Tour Community Bank 150 while the Thunder Road weekly divisions jump-started their 2023 season.

Barre, VT — As part of a reimagined opening weekend for the 64th season of stock car racing at Thunder Road International Speedbowl, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) invaded the State of Vermont on Saturday. The PASS Super Late Models once again stirred the bowl at Thunder Road along with the PASS Modifieds and R&R Race Parts Open Street Stock Series to kick-off the 2023 racing season with plenty of octane and horsepower to fuel the thrills and spills of the tripleheader event.
