Thunder Road Back this Thursday for Vermont AOT Flying Tiger $2k to Win, 100 Lapper!
/Barre, VT – During a week off following the big EastRise Credit Union Labor Day Classic, the Thunder Road faithful have been hard at work repairing their mounts for the final two-race run at the championship starting this Thursday, September 11 with Vermont Agency of Transportation Night. Headlined by the inaugural $2,000-to-win, 100 lap showdown for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, the four division card on VTrans night is sure to be hot and heavy with the championship season coming to a close.
The Flying Tigers have already been a hot-topic in the last week with Sam Caron’s failed powertrain punting him off the top spot in the standings, now seven-points behind Montpelier’s Cameron Ouellette. Ouellette has been one of Thunder Road’s most consistent pilots after standing second in the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel standings all year long and finally getting shot up to the forefront. He’ll be looking to make win #1 on the season the richest of his career with the $2,000-to-win 100-lapper this Thursday.
Standing in his way is sure to be a hard-charging Caron looking to make up the deficit while Brendan Moodie, Logan Powers, Derrick Calkins, Chris LaForest, Mike MacAskill and Robert Gordon have been stellar in long-distance racing this year. Thursday’s ‘Tiger $2k’ is sure to be a contender for the race of the summer!
After an off-weekend for the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour invasion, the King of the Road championship battle resumes for the Maplefields/Irving Late Models with Jason Corliss looking more like a four-time champion all the time. Chris Pelkey continues to stalk the fellow Barre driver but Corliss has proven time and time again that his consistency is key. With just two events left to wrap up the point counting season, keep an eye on the likes of Scott Dragon, Kaiden Fisher, Cody Blake, Stephen Donahue and Taylor Hoar as the field goes trophy hunting!
The situation is similar in the rk Miles Street Stock ranks with Berlin’s Kyler Davis holding an eighty-point lead over rookie sensation Hayden Bushey. The Fairfax driver, Bushey, has taken the four-cylinder ranks by storm after a year in the White Mountain Kids Division with ten top-10 finishes and three podium visits along with an incredible five Noyle Johnson Insurance hardcharger awards in his first season at Thunder Road. As with the Late Models, expect the Street Stock stars to go a-trophy huntin’ these next two weeks as the top dogs fight it out for the championship.
The Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors can’t get enough either with the strictly stock class back on the highbanks and searching for a Thursday night win before the end of the season. Rumors are flying with some drivers considering the move up to Street Stocks in 2026 meaning it’s go time for another Warrior win this Thursday on Vermont Agency of Transportation night!
