Fan-Favorite Preston’s Kia Independence Day Spectacular with Northstar Fireworks Set for July 2 at Thunder Road
/Barre, VT – One of the most anticipated events of the summer is fast approaching for Thunder Road with Preston’s Kia once again presenting the annual Independence Day Spectacular this Thursday, July 2, complete with Central Vermont’s Largest Fireworks Display courtesy of Northstar Fireworks!
While Northstar will supply the airborne fireworks, the Maplefields/Irving Late Models are sure to set off a few themselves around the highbanked quarter mile! Thursday’s program will begin with the final 42 circuits of the rain-delayed Community College of Vermont feature from last week meaning the standings could get quite the shake-up once again this week! Brandon Gray’s comfortable lead has shrunk to just two points on the leaderboard with Justin Prescott growing ever closer to the top. Taylor Hoar and Stephen Donahue will lead the field back to green to kick-off Thursday’s show and it’s sure to set the tone for the evening!
After taking both 40-lap features last week, Northfield’s Cooper French has moved himself into second in the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger standings but Wolcott’s Brendan Moodie maintains a comfortable lead. Moodie is still digging for win number one while Middlesex driver Logan Powers will be looking to bounce back on Preston’s Kia night after a blown rear-end made him call in Cameron Ouellette for the substitute in the second feature. Eric Chase, Cameron Powers and Luke Peters are also among those looking to bounce back under the Northstar fireworks this Thursday.
Williamstown’s Kyle MacAskill continues to lead the rk Miles Street Stock standings with Connor Rueda, Tyler Wheatley and Hayden Morris close behind. It remains to be seen if Nate ‘Tater’ Brien will be able to make it back this week after his wild rollover in turn two last week. Paige Whittemore stepped up as his substitute driver at White Mountain on Saturday night and the Williamstown driver still has a substitute available to use this week if they can’t get the Against the Grain Services #16VT Chevy Cavalier back in racing shape by Thursday.
The Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors also return to Thunder Road as part of the Preston’s Kia holiday spectacular with everyone looking to end Taylor Sayer’s winning streak at The Road!
