Thursday Night Racing at Thunder Road Kicks Off with McGee CDJR of Barre Super Thursday!
/Barre, VT – June ushers in the Vermont tradition of world-famous Thursday Night Racing at Barre’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl with McGee Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Barre presenting the annual SUPER THURSDAY showcase headlined by the New England Supermodified Series!
This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Super Thursday visit for the New England Supermodified Series (NESS) after the winged supermodified tour got it’s start at Thunder Road back in 2022. Since then, eventual champions Rob Summers and Dan Bowes have both taken the checkers along with two-time winner Jon McKennedy, Matt Swanson and Ben Seitz. Currently Bowes leads defending series champion Jeffrey Battle by just one point and will look to solidify that lead with his fourth Super win at Thunder Road.
Finally the Maplefields/Irving Late Models will get their 2026 King of the Road track championship season up and running on McGee CDJR of Barre night. Jason Corliss will be in the hunt for an unprecedented fifth Late Model championship at Thunder Road while he’s set to face plenty of opposition for the crown. It’s once again a question of whether the veterans like Corliss, Scott Dragon, Chris Pelkey and Marcel Gravel can hold off the young lions of Brandon Gray, Kaiden Fisher, Justin Prescott and Jesse Laquerre among the field. With 65 laps to start the season, it’ll be anyone’s guess who might stand tall to take the opening Thursday win.
Hinesburg’s Eric Messier is looking to double-down on Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger victories early in the season after taking the opening day Community Bank win in May. Brendan Moodie looked stout opening day and looks to move up two spots to take his first win early this year while fellow veterans Kevin Streeter, Rob Gordon and Mike MacAskill are looking to make-up for their opening day woes. Keep an eye on the youngsters as well with sophomore racer Parker Gagne and Cooper French looking for back-to-back top-fives.
An overcrowded field of rk Miles Street Stocks were split into two features opening day but officials wait to see what McGee CDJR of Barre Night brings for the mighty four-cylinders. By virtue of their wins, young stars Hayden Morris and Connor Rueda lead the standings that are dotted with veterans and young-guns alike. The competitive division is scheduled for thirty-lap main events this summer, it just remains to be seen how the qualifying action will go on Thursday!
