Mekkelsen RV Classic Headlines Father’s Day Weekend Doubleheader at Thunder Road
/Five Star Roofing to Present Thursday’s Racing Action
Barre, VT – Father’s Day weekend is set to go the distance at Thunder Road International Speedbowl starting with Five Star Roofing Night on Thursday and wrapping up with the rain-postponed Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on Sunday, June 21! It’s sure to be a grind for the Thunder Road faithful but make no-doubt, the Nation’s Site of Excitement will serve up a perfect way to celebrate Dad twice in four days!
After getting the season off on the right foot, sophomore Maplefields/Irving Late Model racer Brandon Gray leads the standings ahead of Justin Prescott and Casella Night victor Chris Pelkey. Gray is coming hot off his first laps led in Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour competition at Star Speedway last Sunday and looks to make a valiant effort to take two wins this week on both Five Star Roofing Thursday and Mekkelsen RV Sunday.
The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers headline Thursday’s Five Star Roofing card with Round #1 in the Myers Container Service Triple Crown. 2015 Champion Brendan Moodie leads the standings while still in the hunt for win number one this season. Eric Messier is the lone veteran to win in the division so far while sophomore racers Parker Gagne and Karsen Murphy have both taken their first Tiger win in Thursday Night action this season. With 75-laps on Thursday and 50-laps on Sunday, it’ll be anyone’s guess who might stand tall in Thunder Road victory lane!
The rk Miles Street Stocks have been in the hot seat this season, averaging well over thirty cars each week while also producing some of the most action-packed racing from front to back. There is currently a tie at the top of the standings between Casella Night winner Kyle MacAskill and the always consistent Ryan Foster. Joined just two points below by Nate ‘Tater’ Brien, the three have rarely made it to the caution replay on FloRacing and it shows. The rk Miles Street Stocks have two chances this week to out run the Crunch Bunch moniker with two thirty-lap showdowns this Father’s Day weekend.
The Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors also return after a few weeks off. The Warriors join both Five Star Roofing Night on Thursday and the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on Sunday with drivers from around the region chomping at the bit to hit the track once again. The Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division will also kick-off their five race series at Thunder Road on Mekkelsen RV Classic Sunday!
The action at Thunder Road continues with a Father’s Day weekend doubleheader starting with Five Star Roofing Night this Thursday, June 18 and wrapping up with the rain-delayed Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on Sunday, June 21!
