Road Warriors Get the Spotlight on NBT Bank Night at Thunder Road
/Barre, VT – The Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors take center stage this Thursday, August 6 with their 8th annual 50-lap Challenge on NBT Bank Night! The novice racers will take on their longest race of the season complete with championship action from the Maplefields/Irving Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and the rk Miles Street Stocks.
The Road Warriors are as bone stock as they come with the only allowance being one racing-type wheel on the right front, taking the full brunt of Thunder Road’s high-banked corners lap after lap! While it’s unknown if any of Sunday’s Enduro drivers have enough left in their clunkers to come back for the Road Warrior Challenge, it’s sure that Cayden Green, Eddie Thompson, Mike Slingerland and Taylor Sayers will be in the hunt for another win. Can ‘No-Look’ Nick Copping, Branden Premont, Jacob Hall-Larson, Anderson Boyd or Mason Frazier finally nab a win this season or maybe a newbie? Anything can happen!
The rk Miles Street Stocks are facing another quick turnaround after Sunday’s Bolduc Metal Recycling 50-lap Special. Hayden Morris took the win over Hayden Bushey with the two currently leading the Alera Group Triple Crown. The three-races-in-seven-days Alera Group Triple Crown has been Thunder Road’s newest tradition and this year’s youngsters are hungry for the championship! Round #2 is set for NBT Bank Night while Sunday’s Five Star Roofing Special will see the champion crowned.
After rains spoiled last Thursday’s efforts, it’s all hands on deck in the Maplefields/Irving Late Models as they try to push defending champion Jason Corliss off the top of the King of the Road standings. Top-ten drivers Brandon Gray, Justin Prescott, Chris Pelkey and Stephen Martin all brought home top-ten finishes in Saturday’s Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250 at White Mountain Motorsports Park and all four are looking to ride that momentum into this Thursday’s NBT Bank Night.
Brendan Moodie continues to lead the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger championship chase with the Wolcott native looking for his second track championship eleven years after his first. Like the Street Stocks, the Flying Tiger ranks have a busy week ahead starting with their 50-lap NBT Bank Trophy Dash! The Tigers wrap up the Central Asphalt Triple Crown at White Mountain on Saturday with $2,000 on the line and return to Thunder Road on Sunday for the Five Star Roofing twilight special!
